I want to first talk about why mindfulness.
It was my personal introduction to channeling creativity in my approach to creation.
I came across it quite naturally as I was always interested in Rick Rubin's approach to creation in music. I would listen to his podcasts and interviews of him explaining his process and routines in his day-to-day life and how that translated in the studio and his role as a facilitator and producer in the rooms with artists. The more I listened, the more interested I was, and the more I was engaging in the same practices that Rick would talk about in his interviews. For example, he was hyper aware of his surroundings in inspiration, explaining that many inspiration comes from the natural occurrences in our life if we choose to be aware of them. Second, he would always talk about how you never know until you try it. There's a layer of continuity involved as it takes many iterations to test and hear what sort of sound resonates when you initially hear it. He would often compare it to eating a food for the first time, either you like it or you don't. He uses this analogy to assess his reaction to hearing music for the first time to properly decide how the project should move forward.
One of the ways I engage in mindfulness on a daily basis is meditation. I try to incorporate it when I first leave the house in the morning or laying down when I'm about to go to sleep.
Link below is a meditation practice that I try to participate in everyday to feel more human, more me every time to channel my creativity introspectively. Try to go through these steps and practice it as much as you can at least once a day.
